Traveling to Canada from Fort Myers is about to get easier. A new airline lands in Southwest Florida today to give travelers more options. The first planes from Porter Airlines are arriving are RSW in preparation to transport its first passengers in less than two weeks. The Canadian airline will make travel both easier and more comfortable between the United States and The Great White North. In addition, Porter plans to fly into Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando and Tampa. The destinations served in Canada include Toronto and Ottawa.
Porter promises an entirely new experience for fliers with its fleet of environmentally sustainable and high tech aircraft. They are using the new Embraer E195-E2 jet. It is described as a state of the art aircraft that has no middle seats, more comfort and more hospitality. The airline also boasts an elevated onboard service with premium snacks as well as free beer and wine. For that extra touch, they are ditching the plastic and serving those beverages in real glassware. In addition, officials say the WiFi is both free and fast. Bonus.
“Canadians are used to flying to Florida, but not like this," says Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Porter Airlines. "Porter is challenging the industry’s definition of economy air travel.”
