If you’re like me and love trying all different kinds of foods, we’re in the right place as 3 Florida cities have made a list of the best foodie cities in America.
I’m not a picky eater at all, so for me, no matter where I go, I know I’ll find somewhere, or many places, where I can get a good meal. Just here in Fort Myers, I have a handful of restaurants I could say are my favorites. Then there’s my faves in Naples, Cape Coral, etc. But what makes a city a foodie city? A city earns a reputation for being a foodie city through a diverse culinary scene that offers many different types of restaurants with a variety of flavors. There may be restaurants that offer the best of their kind. There could be restaurants that blend local traditions and global influences. Foodie cities are also known for their eclectic mix of eateries from street food stands to Michelin-starred restaurants. These cities tend to prioritize fresh, high-quality ingredients and encourage residents and visitors to embrace the scene with not only restaurants but food festivals and farmers’ markets.

WalletHub put together their list of the best foodie cities in America. To do so, they compared more than 180 cities in America and looked at a variety of factors. Things like cost of groceries, affordability, diversity and accessibility of high-quality restaurants just to name a few.
In the top spot is Orlando. The city tied for 1st place with Miami for having the most restaurants per capita. Also tying for 1st place with Miami and Tampa for having the most ice cream & frozen yogurt shops per capita. Orlando tied for 1st place for having the most coffee shops and gourmet specialty-food stores. Miami came in at #4 on the list. And Tampa was ranked #6. Locally to us here in Southwest Florida, Cape Coral landed in the #1 spot for the ratio of full-service restaurants to fast-food establishments.
