It's true, but there is one caveat in how to dine for free at Jason's Deli of Southwest Florida. You have to be 12 and under and it's not until next week. Mom's and dads, make sure this is on your calendar.  It's time for the 15th annual "Kids Eat Free" event at the family-owned deli-restaurant. There are four Jason's Deli locations in Southwest Florida; Cape Coral, Naples and two in Fort Myers.

"With the challenges our local community has faced this year with Hurricane Ian, inflation and back-to-school costs rising, we are happy to provide a reprieve for families as they prepare for the school year ahead," said Diana Willis, owner-operator of Jason's Deli of Southwest Florida. Diana and her husband Scott give back to the community in so many ways and feeding people is just one of them.  In addition to Jason's Deli, they recently opened Foxtail Coffee Company in Immokalee Road in Naples.

How the dining for free event works

Kids under 12 get a free meal with an adult entrée beginning Friday August 4th and running through Sunday the 6th. You can dine-in or pick up the food to go. See the website for additional details and restrictions.

Five Ice Cream Treats To Keep You Cool

Everyone is looking for ways to beat the heat this summer. Of course it's always advised to drink lots of water. However, there are other beverages and foods that can help, and are much more fun to consume. It is TikTok Tuesday and here are five ice cream treats to keep you cool in these sweltering temperatures.

Bloggers and almost everyone on social media are touting the virtues of ice cream treats when it is hot out and who am I to argue.

I love some of the creative desserts using ice cream that I have been seeing as well as ways to make your own without a churn. One of the most unique is get those snack packs of your favorite cookies. Open only one end and crush the cookies up. Next, dump in a milk or cream mix. Then add a popsicle stick and freeze. Instant cookie ice cream pop.

Another good trick is to press cookie dough into cups in a muffin tin and bake according to directions. Pop them out and they serve as cups for your ice cream. Use any kind of cookie base and any kind of ice cream. The possibilities are near endless. I used to think I had to have an ice cream maker to produce the best ice cream. Perhaps that is still true. However there are some great hacks if you don't have one. Some of them are here.

You don't have to have a TikTok account to view and enjoy these videos. I do and have copied the links here. All you have to do is scroll down to hit play. All of these are both kid friendly and office friendly. On second thought, maybe you shouldn't let your kids see. They will be screaming for ice cream. Check out these five ice cream treats to keep you cool for TikTok Tuesday.
