There are a lot of cities that are well known for their food and one city in Florida has been named Bon Appetit's 2023 Food City of the Year.

A lot of cities have certain foods or food styles that they're known for. I'm from Chicago, so hotdogs and pizza are my love language. When you think of Austin, TX BBQ may come to mind. Philly Cheese Steaks in Philadelphia. Lobster Rolls in Baltimore. But then there's also cities that may not have a particular food they're known for, but a wide variety. Think Las Vegas, Asheville, NC or Miami.

Miami has been named by Bon Appetit magazine their Food City of the Year. What I love about Miami is that each neighborhood has a little bit of everything. Of course Little Havana you'll find more Cuban food than you could possibly eat in one day, or even a weekend. But on South Beach you'll find swanky spots and casual beachside bites. There's also some celebrity-owned restaurants in the mix. Restaurants in Miami have been awarded Michelin stars and James Beard awards as well.

Miami is also home to the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, a week-long event where just about every Food Network chef comes to. I had the opportunity to attend this year and had the time of my life. Even took shots with Guy Fieri. You can see all the pics here.

Florida Restaurant Tops List Of Best Award-Winning Restaurants In America

Here in The Sunshine State we have so many amazing places to eat and one Florida restaurant tops a list of the best award-winning restaurants in America.

When it comes to food, everyone has their favorites. Whether it's a favorite style of food, favorite food item or a specific restaurant that is their favorite to eat at. For me, it's so hard to narrow it down. For instance, Mexican food is one of my favorite styles. And here in Fort Myers, I have a few go-to places. But then I also have my favorites in Lehigh Acres, Immokalee and Naples too. And that's just here in Southwest Florida! Of course then there's tacos, enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas..impossible for me to pick just one. I also love Greek food, seafood, Vietnamese food, the list goes on. I think it would easier to list what I DON'T like at this point.

But if you want to know about the best of the best, Trips to Discover put together a list of the best award-winning restaurants in America. To compile their list they evaluated 3-Star Michelin, Five-Star Forbes, and AAA restaurants by looking at reviews written by customers and ratings on both Google and Tripadvisor. Very cool to see a Florida restaurant sitting at the top of the list.  Of the top 10, all of the restaurants are AAA Diamonds, 7 of them are Forbes Star-Rated and just 4 of them have Michelin stars.
