Will Zalatoris of the United States plays his shot from the third tee during a practice round prior to the 2023 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 03, 2023 in Augusta, Georgia.

The runner-up from the 2021 Masters, Will Zalatoris, has withdrawn from the tournament, before his first round was scheduled to start.

The Masters issued the official update, saying his was withdrawing “due to injury.” Reports are saying it is a back injury that led to the withdraw.

He missed four months last season with two herniated discs in his back.

It was scheduled to be the third Masters for Zalatoris, and he had finishes of sixth and second in his other two tries. He’s currently the 8th ranked golfer in the world.

His last outing was in The Players Championship in March, where he finished 73rd.

Kevin Na is the only other golfer to withdraw so far this year, as he had a disastrous first 9 holes, before he left due to injury.
