This Florida tequila brand is a Fabulous Find. It is also a brand that gives back by donating to the Florida Disaster Relief Fund. Costa Tequila launched in 2019 and claims to be the world’s first ‘Hi/Lo’ blend of tequila. Hi/Lo refers to where the agave comes from, the highlands and the lowlands. Agave is the plant distilled to make tequila.
Costa's tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave sourced in two traditionally separate tequila regions in Jalisco, Mexico; “Los Altos,” the Highlands and “Valle de Tequila,” the Lowlands. I recently sampled all three of the tequilas in their lineup. They are indeed fabulous finds from the packaging to the flavor to the fact that they are a Florida company.
The Tequila
Costa Tequila Anejo is the newest addition. It was just released last October. The brand donated proceeds from every purchased in the fourth quarter to Hurricane Ian relief. They anejo is aged for 16 month in American oak. Man does it small nice and warm. The tequila has flavors of caramel and roasted nuts and even some brown sugar. It's lovely on the rocks. $56.99
Costa Reposado is aged in American oak barrels form 8 months. It gives off notes of vanilla and a little pepper on the finish. This one is also a keeper. Buy a bottle and put it on your bar cart. $39.99
However, I think I was most impressed by how smooth the blanco was. Blanco tequila is not aged. It is most often used for mixing and is not known to be as refined as those listed above. However, Costa's was smooth enough to drink on the rocks, maybe just a touch of citrus. $36.99
