Shemon & Sheppard – In The Afternoon

Weekdays 2pm-6pm

Odell Beckham Jr is still a free agent. Rumors have swirled during October and November about what team the Super Bowl winning receiver would sign for. The Bills, Cowboys, and even a return to the Giants have been on the table of OBJ. All 3 teams are in the playoffs, and none of them needed Odell’s services to get there. All of the chatter about Odell signing stopped in early December when he was removed from a plane for unruly behavior. The Odell Beckham Jr. body cam footage has now been released. Here’s what’s circling on the internet right now.

Doesn’t Seem so Bad

Well, that doesn’t seem so bad. The flight attendants are adamant that OBJ was unresponsive and took his pants off. This video does not show that. Is Odell disrespectful to the old man in the red shirt? Yes. Is that reason to remove him from the plane? I don’t think so. Does Odell come across as a spoiled athlete? A little. In fairness to the flight attendants, there is no video prior to authorities showing up. So for all we know they are telling the truth. But they went too far in removing him from the plane. He appeared calm, and responsive in the video. But it is understandable to want to avoid any potential issues when 30,000 feet in the air on a cross-country flight. The flight was Miami to Los Angeles.

Conclusion

I’ve had a few too many pops before a long flight. It eases the nerves and helps you nod off for a few hours. One of the flight attendants said he was coming from the club. Same idea I guess. The video is interesting, however I hope this is not the reason NFL teams passed on him for the playoff push. This Odell Beckham Jr. body cam footage is relatively tame compared to some of the stuff we’ve seen over the past years.

FINAL NFL POWER RANKINGS

It seems like yesterday that it was summer time and we were begging the NFL season to start.  Now the regular season is over and it’s time to rank all 32 teams one more time, once and for all.  But before we list our Final NFL Power Rankings lets take a quick look back at the season.

The Buffalo Bills started as the preseason favorite to win it all.  Before the season ended, Damar Hamlin’s grave health scare made us all Bills fans.  Speaking of injuries, Tua suffered multiple concussions and yet the Dolphins limped into the postseason after an 8-3 start.  Pittsburgh was dreadful but Mike Tomlin figured a way to avoid his first ever losing season.  The Titans slid off the map and the Jags turned out to be pretty decent.  And the Colts… well, I’m not sure what to say about them this season.

Speaking of disasters, the Raiders blew more three-score leads than I can remember.  KC is still good as long as Patrick Mahomes is there.  And let’s not forget about Joe Burrow and the Bengals and how they are poised to make another Super Bowl run.

In the NFC, the Eagles looked pretty solid from beginning to end.  The Cowboys tried to make a run at them but something isn’t quite right with that team.  Tom Brady is a year older but he’s in the playoffs…with a losing record.   The Vikings love the nail-biters and the Lions were busy biting knee-caps.  The Rams repeat bid was a disaster and Mr. Irrelevant might lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl.

It’s been a crazy, crazy season.  And we loved every minute of it.  So, one more time, here’s our Final NFL Power Rankings for the Shemon  and Sheppard Show on ESPN Southwest Florida.  Enjoy and feel free to share.

The Price of Beer at Every NFL Stadium

The 2022 NFL Season is upon us and it’s time to plan those game day trips. And beer is part of that budget. Maybe you plan to catch a game at an out of town stadium? Maybe I’m in Estero and every NFL stadium is out of town for me? That’s actually a lot more true. How much is an Uber round trip to Tampa?

So what about grabbing a beer at an out of town ballpark? Por que no los dos? But how much is it? Every year, sports business data firm Team Marketing Report releases its NFL Fan Cost Index and what they found, the price of beer varies greatly across the stadiums. Statista has really good data on this, too.  And the price of a beer seems to be totally unrelated to how good the team is. A beer at a Jaguars game is double what they charge in Cincinnati at a Bengals game.. They could charge more. The Dolphins charge $11 which is why I show up drunk.

Maybe a lower priced option should be available? The Washington Commanders have no business charging for beer at all. They should make beer free to anyone willing to buy a ticket. And the beer should be brought to me. With peanuts. Enough with the conjecture. Let’s analyze the price of beer at each of the NFL stadiums. Keep in mind that inflation is running pretty hot and I’m writing this on August 4th. They may raise the prices even more.

Pretty simple, team name, price for a small draft beer (or smallest and cheapest beer available), fun picture.
