SeaWorld Orlando has announced a new roller coaster for 2023.
The ride vehicle for "Pipeline" was unveiled at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo last week. "Pipeline" is a first-of-its-kind surf roller coaster. The car looks like a surfboard and you stand up on the ride. I've never been surfing, so I don't know what it feels like, but after riding this roller coaster, it sounds like I will. SeaWorld says riders will “sense every bank and curve” and feel as though they are really surfing and the motions will resemble riding a wave.
The description for "Pipeline" on SeaWorld's website reads: "Experience the rush of launching 110 feet up and sensing every bank and curve as though you’re really riding the waves, thanks to an inventive harness that keeps you secure while giving you unparalleled freedom of movement."
Jonathan Smith is the VP of rides and and engineering for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. He said: “It has decals and elements to it that celebrate surf cultures from every single era. It’s bright, it’s spectacular … and it’s beautiful. We’ve finished the first element which is the hammerhead wave. We’ve also finished our second element leaving us in the middle of erecting a wave curl inversion as it stands today. So there is electrical work going on, concrete work, iron work. A little bit of every discipline is on site today as we are installing the ride. It’s a pretty exciting time to be there.”
"Pipeline" will be SeaWorld Orlando’s seventh roller coaster and is set to open in the spring.
Florida Theme Parks Offering Black Friday Deals
It's hard to believe that the biggest shopping day of the year is just over a week away and some Florida theme parks will be offering Black Friday deals.
The holiday season is upon us and over the next few weeks time will fly by. If you haven't started thinking about Christmas shopping yet, now would be the time to start making that list so you can take advantage of the deals. I've never been much of a Black Friday shopper. I worked in retail for years when I was younger, so now that I don't anymore, I avoid going out into the madness if I don't have to. It's not to say the deals aren't worth it on some things, I just don't feel the need to get into a possible altercation over a $3 savings on a pillow. Though a pillow fight in a department store sounds like it could be pretty epic.
While you may think of stores people camp out at like Walmart, Best Buy and Target, WFLA reports that a lot of theme parks here in Florida will be serving up some deals on Black Friday too. If you have a hard to buy for person on your Christmas list, I think tickets to some fun is something everyone can enjoy.
