Southwest Florida School Districts Closed On Thursday

The school districts of Lee, Charlotte, Glades, Desoto and Hendry are the Southwest Florida School Districts Closed On Thursday, November 10, 2022.  The closures are in anticipation of Tropical Storm Nicole.  These closures also include any activities hosted by the school districts as well.

Collier County schools remain open at this time.

The decision on whether schools will open on Friday, November 11, 2022 has not been determined at this time.  The announcement will be made by Thursday afternoon.

The following message was posted minutes ago on School District of Lee County Facebook.

Due to the expected high winds from Tropical Storm Nicole and current conditions in our area as a result of Hurricane Ian, in an abundance of caution and for the safety of our students and staff, all after school activities have been canceled for today, November 9, 2022, with the exception of high school activities/athletics and after-care as described below.
High School after school activities/athletics will be allowed to continue today through 3:30 p.m. with the campus being cleared by 4:00 p.m. Please note that after-school activity bus transportation will not be provided and students should take the regular bus home. All after-school care for today will continue as normal. However, families are encouraged to pick up their child early if possible.
In addition, the District has made the decision to close all schools and District offices on Thursday, November 10, 2022. This includes all school activities, athletics, and programs.
With the flu and other sicknesses going around right now, this day off could be a good thing ahead of the Holidays.
Stay tuned for updates.
