Weekend Vibes, What’s Happening In Southwest Florida Oct 28-30

Here are your Weekend Vibes, what's happening in Southwest Florida Oct 28-30

It's Halloween weekend and while not all places are open, and Southwest Florida is far from being "normal," the days of the calendar are still peeling away.

For some, the horrors of Hurricane Ian suffice for Halloween. For others, this is their favorite time of the year. Some people take costuming seriously. It gives them joy. If that's what you need to feel good, DO IT! If you want to have a Halloween gathering, DO IT. In fact, here are some recipes for your gathering.

Costume contests are still taking place across Southwest Florida for Halloween this year. Pictured here, Sam Brooks is dressed as an "ice demon."

There are all kinds of costume parties and trick or treating events for kids. Every where from North Collier Rescue Fire station #45 on Veterans Parkway in Naples to Miromar Outlets in Estero.

Last weekend, Naples Zoo and Caribbean Gardens had their annual Boo at the Zoo event. This weekend, Iguanaland in Punta Gorda has there own Boo at the Zoo. The family friendly event is 11am-2pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Parties and events are still a slippery slope for many. The line is blurry between being respectful of those who are suffering since the hurricane and those who are able to and want to get back to some sense of their pre-Ian life. Regardless of where you fall on that scale, remember to be kind to one another. We are all in different spaces right now.

Numerous events have been canceled or postponed in wake of Hurricane Ian. Find out which ones by clicking here. Remember that events on you calendar and even those listed here can always change. It never hurts to call ahead to confirm. Finally, if you have the means, the energy, the desire to do so, get out and support local businesses that are up and running.

Sixteen Southwest Florida high-school marching bands perform in this event replacing the annual District 18 Florida Bandmasters Assessment, which was canceled due to Hurricane Ian. The bands will perform, but won’t compete or be judged. Noon Saturday, Oct. 29. Admission is a cash donation, canned goods or both. The canned goods will go to a local charity to be announced. Cash donations will help school students participate in various musical events. Lehigh Senior High School, 901 Gunnery Road N., Lehigh Acres.
