Partial human remains found near items belonging to Brian Laundrie in Myakkahatchee park
Partial human remains were found Wednesday afternoon on a trail Brian Laundrie frequented in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, according to NBC2.
A backpack which is believed to belong to Laundrie, and the remains were found in a location that was previously under water, officials said.
There is no confirmation the remains belong to Laundrie at this time.
Laundrie’s parents took FBI agents and North Port police to the location where “some articles belonging to Brian were found,” according to a statement by Laundrie attorney Steven Bertolino.
“The FBI and NPPD were informed last night of Brian’s parents’ intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning. After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now law enforcement is conducting a more thorough investigation of that area,” Bertolino said.
Laundrie is considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his fiancée Gabby Petito and has been missing for over a month.
Petito’s body was discovered on Sept. 19 in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming, and her death was ruled a homicide by “manual strangulation.”
