A youth football coach who was seen assaulting a player in a viral video earlier this week has been banned from the organization for the rest of his life.
In a video that surfaced Monday, American Youth Football Coach Gerrel Williams can be seen striking one of his 9-and-under players on two occasions during a game in Savannah, Georgia. On Thursday, the league released a statement in which it revealed Williams has been “banned for life” from all future league events.
No room in the game for coaches like this. I hope he is arrested and banned for life. pic.twitter.com/1B0F2cLiqH

Although Williams hasn’t commented on the ban, he addressed the situation in a video he posted to Facebook Wednesday. “At the end of the day, I am a man, and I’m not gon’ make no excuses for what I did,” he says in the clip. “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have disciplined him in public; I shoulda waited ‘til he got back for doing what he did.” There’s no word on what the boy “did.”
Should Williams face criminal charges?
