Student athletes will be playing in front of empty stands this season at Collier County public high schools.
Collier County Public Schools made a decision not to allow fans at any sporting event this fall in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and the Florida Department of Health, according to Naples Daily News.
The CDC guidelines currently limit large gatherings amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The seven CCPS high school football teams will begin regular-season games Sept. 17, and they will only play with Lee and Collier teams during the fall season.
CCPS will stream football and volleyball games for family, students and community members to watch in real time.
Coaches and training staff will be required to wear masks at all times and athletes must wear masks and stay 6-feet apart when not actively playing, according to NBC2.
Players, of any sport, will not be allowed to huddle and locker rooms will only be used for football. All locker room space will be maximized with staggered usage.
