Florida Surgeon General Says We Could Be Wearing Masks For The Next Year

OVERLAND PARK, – APRIL 07: A woman wearing a mask shops for Passover items at a grocery store during the coronavirus pandemic on April 07, 2020 in Overland Park, Kansas. Florida Surgeon General Scott Rivkees advised residents on Monday to continue to practice social distancing and wearing masks for the next year, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Rivkees says that Floridians should get used to current precautions like avoiding crowds of 10 or more and should consider this their "new normal" until a coronavirus vaccine is created.

The vaccine won’t be available for another 12 to 18 months, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“As long as we’re going to have COVID in the environment, and this is a tough virus, we’re going to have to practice these measures so that we are all protected,” Rivkees said.

Currently, there are 21,367 positive cases of coronavirus in Florida as of Tuesday, April 14 at 2 p.m. Tov view the numbers in Florida, click here.
