Tokyo Olympics Get Rescheduled 2021 Dates

Tokyo Olympics

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics has been officially rescheduled to take place in the summer of 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Olympic games will now be taking place from July 23 through August 8, 2021. In a statement, International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach said, "With this announcement, I am confident that, working together with the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Japanese Government and all our stakeholders, we can master this unprecedented challenge. Humankind currently finds itself in a dark tunnel. These Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 can be a light at the end of this tunnel."

The 2020 Toyko Olympics were officially postponed on March 24. The Olympic games were one of the last major events to announce postponement or cancelation due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Before the games were postponed, many countries announced they would not be sending athletes to the games out of caution from COVID-19.
