Redskins To Tag Pro Bowl RG Scherff

The Redskins don't want Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff going anywhere, and expected to use the franchise tag to keep him for at least one more season.

Scherff reportedly turned down an extension last year that would have paid him more than $13 million per year. If tagged, the Skins will have until July 15 to work out a long-term contract.

Teams have until March 12th to use the franchise tag, which pays the player a figure based on the average top five salaries at their position. In Scherff's case, that would likely be upwards of $15 million for 2020.

If you were a player, would you rather play a series of big-money one-year contracts or a long-term deal with guarantees? Is Scherff worth top-level money?
