Large Brush Fire Threatens Homes In Charlotte County

A large brush fire threatened homes Monday afternoon in Charlotte County, according to NBC2.

The brush fire burned 60 acres of land as of 3:40 p.m. and is still burning, NBC2 reported.

Authorities are asking residents near Master Drive between Gasparilla Road and Masthead Road to evacuate.

The fire started off Harness Road near South Gulf Cove, the Charlotte County Fire Department said.  Crews are working to extinguish the fire as several homes are reportedly in danger.

Fire crews from Englewood, Boca Grande and North Port are also responding to the fire, NBC2 reported.
