Miami Beach Hits Airbnb With $168K In Fines During Super Bowl Crack Down
Even though Miami Beach prohibits short-term rentals, there were still plenty of locations listed on Airbnb before the Super Bowl.
So Code Compliance officers swept through the city searching out violations in the days between last Thursday and Monday following the Big Game.
With 17 uncovered, Miami Beach hit the online lodging arrangers with $168,000 in fines. The biggest infraction came from just one location, generating $100k.
While Airbnb claimed that the house in question wasn’t on their platform, officers say the property was listed at $15,793 as “Plush Waterfront Wonderland w Pool, Hot Tub & Dock” for the extended weekend.
