49ers assistant coach Katie Sowers will be making history in more ways than one when her team takes the field on Super Bowl Sunday.

The 33-year-old Sowers will be the first woman ever to coach in a Super Bowl. She'll also be the first openly LGBT coach to reach the big game.

Sowers joined the Niners after previously spending time in the Falcons organization. She is the third woman to ever coach in the NFL, preceded by Jen Welter of the Cardinals in 2015 and Kathryn Smith of the Bills in 2016.
