Antonio Brown Released By Patriots Amid Rape Allegations
BREAKING: Patriots Cut Antonio Brown
In a stunning move, the Patriots released wide receiver Antonio Brown Friday afternoon after just one game with the team.
Brown, who practiced with the team on Friday, broke the news himself, tweeting “Thanks for the opportunity”. In a statement, the Patriots said “we feel that it is best to move in a different direction at this time”.
It’s the latest twist for Brown, who has been accused of sexually assaulting former trainer Britney Taylor and was accused of sexual misconduct by an artist he hired to paint a mural. On Thursday, Sports Illustrated shared threatening text messages Brown sent to that artist.
Earlier on Friday, Bill Belichick ended a press conference just three minutes in after refusing to answer questions about “off-the-field situations”.
Brown’s stint with the Patriots lasted just one game, in which he had four catches for 57 receiving yards and one touchdown.
