WR Thomas Absent from Saints Camp
New Orleans WR Michael Thomas was absent from Saints training camp while both parties continue contract negotiations, according to ESPN.
Saints vets were to report to camp on Thursday with official practice starting Friday. Thomas could be fined $40,000 per day for missing camp. He had been present for midseason activities earlier, though.
Thomas is set to make around $1.5 million with his final year as a rookie, but ESPN says that the Saints are prepared to make him the highest-paid receiver, topping O’Dell Beckham Jr.s’ annual salary of nearly $19 million.
