Police in the Dominican Republic said Monday that they have identified the man believed to have organized the hit on David Ortiz.

According to court documents obtained by the Associated Press, Gabriel Alexander Perez Vizcaino, also known as "The Bone," acted as "the liaison between the alleged hit men and the person who paid them."

Perez was allegedly contacted by someone in prison to put together the June 9 bar shooting of the former Red Sox slugger, showing a photo of the target to the suspects.

After learning police were on the lookout, Perez sold an iPhone 6 he used to plan the attack in an effort to unload the evidence.
