NFL Conference Championship QB Power Rankings
By: Chris Beasley
- Patrick Mahomes: This guy is at the center of everything the most explosive offense in the league does. There has been no drop off in production at running back since Damien Williams (former Dolphin!) has taken over duties for Kareem Hunt- that tells me every defense going up against the Chiefs is trying to stop #15, not the running game. Mahomes had an 11 week stretch throwing for multiple TD’s (that was broken last week against the Colts.) Mahomes would make any other of the 3 teams remaining better…. FACT!
- Drew Brees: This was the real debate in my mind. Ultimately the Saints have the best 1-2 combo at running back in the league with Kamara and Ingram, and Brees can lean on that. Also, go look at Drew’s numbers the last month- they’re good, just not gaudy. Last week he threw for 2 TD’s; that was the first multi-touchdown game for Brees since November 22nd when he threw for 4.
- Tom Brady: Breath…. Just breath and let me explain myself: Tom Brady is the GOAT- I am perfectly fine admitting that, as you should, but this list takes a look at where they are going into this weekend. He is 41 and he doesn’t have the best weapons around him. There is no debating that he is falling off- how rapid of a fall that is can be debated, but he is not the same guy that was pulling the strings in 2007. As I said with Jarod Goff, this is not indicative of Brady being average- this ranking has more to do with the other 2 guys.
- Jarod Goff: Strange for a guy who was in the MVP race until the end of the season would be the worst quarterback taking the field, but this speaks to the strength of the other 3 more so than what I think of Goff.
