Sad news to report today, as a Parkland Middle School Student was hit by a vehicle yesterday after he exited the school campus during a walkout.

According to USA Today, the student, Jonathan Benko, 11, left school with several other students who chose not to participate in the walkout.

The group of students were headed to a nearby park at the time Benko was struck.

Benko was transported to a nearby hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.

The accident occurred on Loop 375.

The other students in the group are being questioned by police.
